ASEMPRA TECHNOLOGIES SECURES $20M IN SERIES B FUNDING
Financing received from Menlo Ventures, USVP and Polaris Ventures; company to utilize funds to accelerate
sales, marketing, and customer support.
Sunnyvale, Calif., February 21, 2006 - Asempra Technologies, a pioneer in enterprise-level
data protection and real-time recovery management solutions, today announced that the company has secured a
second round of funding of $20 million, bringing its total funding to date to $29 million. Menlo Ventures
led the round; additional investments were received from Polaris Venture Partners and US Venture Partners,
Asempra's Series A investors. The financing will be used primarily to fund the expansion of Asempra sales
and marketing, customer service, support infrastructure, and product development.
In April 2005 Menlo Ventures announced the formation of Menlo Ventures X (pronounced "ten"),
L.P., capitalized at $1,200,000,000. Asempra Technologies is one of the first companies to receive financing
from the new fund.

The Asempra BCS provides transaction-aware continuous data protection for Microsoft Exchange, Windows file

interface for tape archival products including Veritas NetBackup, Legato NetWorker, and Tivoli Storage Manager
to fully utilize existing software to store data to tape.
